Custom solution: TZR telescopic cylinder

This telescopic cylinder is used as a custom solution in a drum cleaning system for the pharmaceutical industry. Under aggressive conditions, it is particularly important that the automation components used are highly robust, reliable, and above all corrosion-resistant.

Function/Feature:
The cylinder is designed with a hollow-drilled piston rod through which the cleaning agent is routed. The fluid is connected at the cylinder head and evenly distributed via a spray nozzle at the piston rod end.

Challenge:
During development of the telescopic cylinder, one key insight emerged: the details make all the difference. Manufacturing the tubes required extremely tight tolerances - both internally and externally - for diameter, roundness, and surface finish. Only this ensures smooth, low-wear extension and retraction of the individual stages.

Another challenge: reliably channeling compressed air from the cylinder head to all tube segments for piston rod retraction. The result is a highly precise, robust drive element that performs reliably even under demanding conditions.
